The parts arrived one by one
At the Sinclair Mine in '62
Assembly began and took all but a year
It was the largest shovel when they were through
Nicknamed "big hog" which is no surprise
Even a greyhound bus don't compare in size
20 stories tall and it weighed 20 million pounds
Working round the clock taking coal from the ground
Bucyrus Erie 3850b, worked for the Peabody Coal Company
Down in that pit, for coal the land it stripped, in Mulenburg Country Kentucky
After 25 years the job was done
The coal was removed, every last ton
With nothing left to do they shut down the mine
For that shovel at last, it was quittin time
Big Hog's still there to this day
But it's remains can't be seen
For with the very earth it moved
They filled the hole it dug, and buried that machine
